If you’ve ever read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berend or seen the flick, chances are Savannah, Georgia is on your bucket list of places to visit. It’s definitely on mine!

Savannah attracts millions of visitors each year – not only because of Berend’s bestselling novel, but also because of its architecture and historical buildings. Savannah’s downtown area is one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the US.

Elizabeth on 37th, a restaurant housed in a 1900′s Southern mansion in the historic district, was the setting for Devon and Rob’s 20-guest destination wedding.

“We had the family there that we wanted, the location was elegant and intimate, the flowers and trees were in bloom. It was just lovely,” says Devon.

Thanks to event planner Simply Savannah Events and photographer Memories N More for sharing this gorgeous little wedding with IW readers!

Why did you have an intimate wedding?

We only wanted immediate family to attend and wanted something fun, but moderately stress-free.

What are some of the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?

The most difficult challenge was the coordination, since we had a destination wedding. We had to carry a lot of our reception décor to the site.

Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?

Not at all; We decided to only invite immediate family and didn’t waiver.

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

Getting married!!! We had the family there that we wanted, the location was elegant and intimate, the flowers and trees were in bloom. It was just lovely.

What were the highlights of the reception?

The ability to enjoy it, visit with family and not feel rushed. We weren’t torn in different directions and enjoyed the time together.

What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?

It was a lot more fun than any other wedding that I have attended.

What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?

You should have the wedding that you want and stick to it, regardless of the size.
