A few weeks ago, a reader inquired about finding places to donate wedding dresses after the Big Day. I did a little research and found The Brides’ Project in Toronto, Canada.
The Brides’ Project receives gown donations from both corporate sponsors and brides. The proceeds from the sales of its preowned wedding dresses and accessories is donated to charities that help children with cancer. I was pretty ‘wowed’ by what I read about The Brides’ Project, so I contacted the place to find out if they accept dresses from the U.S. as well as Canada. Here’s what they said:
We accept and receive donations from all over. Any donations can be mailed to us at 431 Broadview Ave, Toronto, ON, M4K 2N2.
What a fabulous way to give back!

This is a fantastic project and I would really like to donate my gown. However,it does need to be dry cleaned. Would you accept the gown as is?
Hi there
The Brides Project accepts all wedding dress donations less than 5 years old (unfortunately we just don’t have the space for dresses that are older, or Bridesmaid/Mother of the Bride dresses) Dresses do not need to be drycleaned in advance. A nice touch is to include a note to the Bride to Be… this is not necessary but our next generation brides do really like this.
Thanks for thinking of us!

Hi there: My daughter bought her gown, veil and garter at the Bride’s Project in August, 2007. We had a wonderful experience with Helen (the proprietor) and found a gorgeous Paloma Blanca gown that looked fabulous on the day. The selection is outstanding…and we highly recommend it to all Brides-to-Be in our area.
Just wanted to chime in again to mention that we have a new affiliate in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the American brides:
