I love the idea of embedded seeds and plantable favours. As well, I'll be purchasing used dresses and having as many recyclable and reused items in my wedding as possible.

I like the idea of using small potted plants as placeholders and larger potted flowers as centerpieces. Guests can take them home and those that are left can be planted in my garden!

I'm thinking about having some custom glass water bottles made for wedding favors over at www.lovebottle.net. I have one of their 1 L. bottles and LOVE it (pun intended). I love glass, and it's the healthiest & most green thing to drink out of, and let's face it, everyone needs a reusable water bottle!

We're going to have seed bomb favours. :)

Since I always throw away favours, I thought why not go with that idea? Make some seed bombs, mark them clearly with instructions and have everyone throw away their favours on the way home. Voila - the venue becomes the center for lots of wildflowers growing in the verges. A nice way to remember your day when you pass by some wildflowers as well.

For our wedding last October, we aimed to hand-make quite a lot of our decorations/accessories/food. One thing I was proud of was our re-use of old sewing patterns and vintage women's magazines to make beautiful pom-poms and kusudama flowers - the aged look of the patterns and magazine pages complimented our colour scheme (which was hints of champagne) and all day, people were walking up to look at something and then exclaiming "wow, it's a sewing pattern!" which was very fun! I think re-using instead of purchasing something new means you get to think more creatively and perhaps come up with a look that you may not have thought of before!

for my own wedding, i have not purchased any paper for my invitations. instead, i recycled old manila folders that were to be tossed and used them for our save the date cards. the envelopes for our wedding invitations have been sitting on a shelf for years and will be used, rather than purchasing new envelopes and the cardstock for our invitations will be upcycled library cards and pockets, which are no longer being used by local libraries.

additionally, i'm making bunting using fabric donated by family members and friends, that has been sitting around their houses. no new fabric has been purchased.

thanks!

Instead of buying and wearing a big pouffy white thing, I will be wearing my mothers kimono and a kimono belt (obi) that my great-grandmother hand wove out of old worn kimono fabric. I think it's close to 100 years old, but it's just as sturdy as the day it was made.

It's a nice way to pay homage to the women in my family, save money and share culture with a very multi-national guest list at the same time.

I love the idea of local foods and treats! This really gives a feel for the area and supports local farmers as well!

Vintage...fun, funky and recycled

Having wedding, reception and lodging all in the same locale or within walking distance.

And no one make nicer displays than mother nature.
