Three days. That’s all it took for Kelly and Anthony to plan their wedding at the San Diego City Hall.
“We literally had 72 hours to plan this elopement … the hardest time we encountered was finding outfits for the two of us!” says Kelly.
Did they have any regrets about not having guests?
“Our elopement was really for solidifying our love and commitment to each other and I think the day portrayed that perfectly,” says Kelly.

Why did you have an intimate wedding?
We got married on a whim – literally within three days. And since marriage is about commitment and love, we wanted to be 100% be in that moment without distractions or pressure. Our families are also on opposite coasts, so it was only fair for the only guest to be our witness/photographer.
What are some the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?
Since Anthony proposed twelve days before we eloped, I think the biggest stressor was finding something to wear. We literally had 72 hours to plan this elopement, and with two kids and life, the hardest time we encountered was finding outfits for the two of us! Anthony saved the day and reminded me that this day was an event for the two of us and that our outfits were not the main concern.
Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?
I was a little torn that my mother couldn’t attend since we are so close but since Anthony’s family is on the East Coast it only made sense to wait to have everyone together at our reception.
Did you have any issues with the small guest list from friends and family?
Overall they understood why we were eloping and respected our decision.
What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?
Reading our vows to each other was probably my favorite part. Standing with just my husband, a judge, and our photographer Jamie was amazing. The quietness of us vowing our love to each other was unreal. I am so happy we were able to be confident with our decision to have no one else around. Our elopement was really for solidifying our love and commitment to each other and I think the day portrayed that perfectly.
What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?
If you want an intimate wedding or elopement, then do it! Don’t let others hold your back. It’s your day. It’s about your love.
