One of the things we love about this collection is that you can mix and match dresses and colors to suit your wedding style. With their soft and beautiful hues, all of the dresses and separates look amazing together, allowing you to completely customize your look.

From feminine lace separates to shimmering retro gowns, the Spring 2017 bridesmaids collection has made it easy to find that perfect dress to fall in love with. But don’t take our word for it; these photos by the talented Brumley & Wells really say it all.

One of our favorites from the collection is style #1510 featuring a sleeveless lace bodice paired with a full tulle skirt. It doesn’t get any more gorgeous than this – until, that is, it’s placed next to a pastel pink dress from this collection.

If you love the look of strapless gowns, this pretty pink gown (style #1509) with chic striped edging is classic and elegant. And it will look fabulous beside any of the dresses in this collection.

Everything about styles #1515 and #1516 have us charmed. We adore the retro 70s styling of these shimmering bridesmaid gowns. You can be sure these beauties won’t end up at the back of a closet after your big day! Cocktail party, anyone?

Ring Shopping? Style Meets Integrity at Lolide

Posted on May 2, 2017 by Christina

    lolide faceted ring

Gorgeous one-of-a-kind rings that are handmade with integrity? Yes, please!

At Intimate Weddings, we support small businesses that are creative, passionate and ethical. Lolide, a west coast ring maker, fits this profile to a tee.

Each ring at Lolide is skillfully handcrafted by founder Lori Linkous Devine in her Seattle studio.

    “I am a one-woman show,” she says.

Before hightighting some of our faves from Lolide’s shop (there are many beautiful choices, it was hard to whittle it down!), we thought it would be fun to share a bit about Lori and what inspires her.

    What’s your background?

I was raised in semi-rural Virginia by Depression-era grandparents. My grandfather, never one to throw anything away – or purchase expensive art materials – kept what we referred to as the “junk room.” But to me, this was my supply closet, the place where I got all of the materials for my many projects, from the leftover rug remnants and house paint I used in a handmade and furnished cardboard doll-less house, to old pieces of tire I used to make a pair of flip flops. My design influence emanates from my printmaking training and life experience and my tenacity from Grandpa’s junk room.

How would you describe your jewelry style?

I am a metalsmith, knitter, reader, printmaker, former social worker, women’s health advocate, karaoke enthusiast, ice cream over-indulger, art lover. My approach to design draws on all of these at one time or another.

My focus is on clean lines and unusual design that is unfussy and sophisticated. I try to create pieces that are an alternative to the “wedding industrial complex”.

Where do you find inspiration for your jewelry designs?

I love the sculptural aspect of making jewelry. The process of having a picture in my head that morphs into an actual 3-d object never ceases to feel magical.  I’m very attracted to showing positive vs. negative space. I find inspiration in the intersection of order and chaos, natural vs. industrial, like the beautiful lush organic vine growing on a rusted glass and steel structure or the sound of rain on a metal roof, things that connect my Virginia childhood with my new home in Seattle. I try to reflect this feeling of time, nature, and industry in my designs, a marriage of my past and present, an embrace of unexpected juxtapositions.

How do you pay it forward?

I’m committed to using the labor of my hands not just to create lovely objects but to continue to benefit organizations that further the work of health, equality and inclusion. A portion of all profits from lolide go to various organization that support these values.

Now, without further adieu, here are a few of our favorites from Lolide’s shop:

This wildly popular hand-faceted wedding band would look amazing on any groom – or bride! Like all of the rings in Lolide’s collection, this band is gender neutral.

    hammered band

If you just can’t get enough of faceted wedding bands, we recommend this ring which combines rough planes with slightly burnished edges. This design, which is completely textured by hand, defies gender and gives you a beautiful alternative to the rings you see every day.

    platinum wedding band lolide

As an alternative to diamonds, why not go with a one-of-a-kind mixed metal moissanite ring? A stunning alternative to the traditional diamond, moissanite gives the sparkle of diamond at a fraction of the cost.

    lolide wedding bands

A square solitare moissanite gemstone ring set in a modern bark band with moissanite inlays and handmade etchings, make this set a perfect choice for the rugged individualist. You can feel good knowing that your ring is one of a kind – and ethical.

Make a statement with this square solitaire moissanite gemstone ring. Organic shapes are juxtaposed with strong lines in this modern ring set with art deco styling. Like all of Lolide’s gemstone rings featured here, a diamond can be substituted for moissanite.

    lolide handmade rings

Another beautiful alternative to traditional diamonds is sapphires. This bold, modern ring featuring a yellow sapphire and smaller white sapphire stands out from the crowd, with its architectural styling, and vibrant pop of color.

    El Matador Beach Styled Elopement

Posted on May 1, 2017 by Christina

If you love the idea of having a casual, romantic elopement on the beach, then you are going to love today’s styled shoot by photographer Jessie Caballero.

Here’s what Jessie had to say about the shoot:

“I wanted to stylize a beachy, romantic, and intimate elopement on a budget. I wanted it to feel as authentic as possible without looking too editorial. The bride is naturally a very beach-vibe kind of gal, so finding a dress that suited her personality was important to me. We found her gown at Free People, and the groom’s suit at Zara. To save money, I styled the head crown and bouquet myself. These are two things I’d never done before, but I had so much fun playing around with different flowers and plants, I considered becoming a florist for a hot minute. 🙂 I knew that I wanted the color palette to be earthy, so sage greens, blush pinks, and tans were a must for the overall design. Everything ended up pairing perfectly with the location (El Matador Beach) and these two really made it too easy to capture the sweet and romantic mood I was initially going for!”

A big thanks to Jessie Caballero for sharing this beautiful shoot with us!

Kelly and Dan’s Romantic Backyard Wedding in Maryland

Posted on April 28, 2017 by Kate

Kelly and Dan decided to have an at-home intimate wedding with 64 guests. The couple wanted to put money into renovating the home they bought two years before they married, instead of spending money on a venue. Also, the duo wanted to be able to spend the day seeing all their guests, not running around frantically trying to see hundreds of people.

“The number of guests we had was perfect—it was small enough that we got to enjoy ourselves and be present the entire night,” says Kelly.

Thanks to the talented Cast83 Photography for capturing Kelly and Dan’s love so beautifully!

    Kelly, 27 & Daniel, 38

    Location: Owings Mills, Maryland

    Wedding Date: August 13, 2016

    Number of Guests: 64

    Wedding Cost: $15,000

Why did you have an intimate wedding?

I really wanted to be able to hang out with all of my guests, not spend most of the evening running around trying to have five minute conversations with 100+ people. The number of guests we had was perfect—it was small enough that we got to enjoy ourselves and be present the entire night. I also wanted the ceremony to be intimate so I wasn’t nervous about saying our vows in front of a huge crowd. Lastly, I wanted to keep the wedding cost down, making it as nice as possible for the friends and family we had.

What are some the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?

Both of our mothers wanted to invite guests of their own, which we had to say no to because of our desire to have a small wedding. Also the size of our backyard was a stress factor; we needed to make sure we had just enough space for the right amount of guests. We were not able to do a sit down dinner because of space, instead we used the high top tables for a cocktail hour style dinner before moving onto the reception.

Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?

Dan and I have a great group of close friends, but a ton of acquaintances on both sides. I think having it so small made it easier because that next level of friends weren’t offended when they realized it was only our immediate family (20) and 20 friends on each side including spouses.

Did you have any issues with the small guest list from friends and family? If so, how did you address them?

The only place we had issues was definitely with both of our mothers. Dan’s mother wanted to invite their entire extended family which was over 50 guests alone since they have a lot of cousins. My mom had “family friends” she wanted to invite and was upset that she couldn’t. We just explained to them what our vision was for the wedding (small) and asked them to understand. We were also paying for the wedding which was even more of an incentive to keep the guest list small.

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

Our officiant was a close friend and he was absolutely hilarious. Everyone was laughing, but I’ve also heard my girlfriends say they were crying. It all just felt surreal marrying my best friend in our own backyard looking out at the woods with the sun peeking through. Dan and I had been together for six years before tying the knot.

What were the highlights of the reception?

Our DJ was amazing and the dance floor was packed the entire night. By the end of the reception, half of the guests actually ended up in the pool!

What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?

Spending time with our closest family and friends, having the time to savor the special moments, and staying out of debt when it’s all over.

What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?

Focus on what is best for you two. Don’t let your family tell you what a wedding should be like, follow your own dream and the rest will work out.
