Ronald and Lauren’s Hawaiian Waterfall Elopement

Posted on November 2, 2018 by Christina

If you love the idea of a low stress wedding in a magical setting, you will be charmed by this breathtaking Hawaii elopement photographed by Schyne Photography and styled by Modern Elopement.

Ronald and Lauren had their first look in front of a stunning waterfall, followed by a simple ceremony with their closest family and friends underneath an unforgettable tree at Kauai’s National Tropical Botanical Gardens.

    Ronald, 32 & Lauren, 37

    Location:  Kauai, HI

    Wedding Date: June 7, 2018

    Number of Wedding Guests: 10

    Wedding cost: $6,495

Wedding Ceremony Location: National Tropical Botanical Garden

    Wedding Reception Location: N/A

Why did you have an intimate wedding?

We had always heard how quickly the wedding day flies by. We wanted to extend that celebration over the course of a week with our immediate families. The easiest and most enjoyable way to do that for us was to elope with the family in tow, and make it into a family vacation as well!

    hawaii elopement

What are some the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?

Overall we were very lucky not to face any significant challenges, mostly due to our incredible coordinator at Modern Elopement and also our mindset about the event.

Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?

Nope! We both knew it would feel the most special with just our immediate family. It also would have been cost-prohibitive for many of our other friends and family to attend a destination wedding, and we didn’t want them to feel like they had to stretch themselves financially to attend.

Did you have any ‘issues’ with the small guest list from friends and family? If so, how did you address them?

No issues! I think everyone was well-prepared because we had talked about a destination wedding for years before we were ever engaged. We also chose to throw a casual backyard party for extended family and friends after we got back home. This allowed us a more budget-friendly way to celebrate with all of them.

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

How do we pick?!!! The entire ceremony was the highlight of our lives. However, hearing each other read our hand-written vows was incredibly special. Our officiant was also able to weave in the spirit of the Kauai into our ceremony, which made us feel very connected to the island.

What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?

It was extremely low stress. We had the ability to truly enjoy each other on our wedding day rather than host a giant party where you’re expected to greet and spend time with every single guest.

What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?

Focus on what your priorities are for your wedding and marriage. If you stay focused on that, then everything else will fall into place. Not everyone needs or wants the traditional Pinterest wedding! Also, if you’re going to Hawaii – book Modern Elopement.

    Halloween Themed Wedding Ideas

Posted on October 31, 2018 by Christina

Think back on when you were a kid. Wasn’t it a blast to get dressed up and go door to door in search of Halloween candy? Wasn’t it great fun to get spooked by scary houses, and creepy props?

The ghoulish charm of Halloween doesn’t have to disappear in adulthood. In fact, for many folks it’s the number one holiday of the year.

There’s no doubt creating a Halloween themed wedding can be a lot of fun – especially to those with a mischievous spirit.

Here are some ways to make this scary holiday part of your nuptials:

Propose to your wedding party with Harry Potter themed Bridesmaid Proposal Boxes and Groomsman Proposal Boxes from My Weekend is Booked.

Use Gothic wedding invitations like these ‘Raven egg’ invites from LittleElephantCrafts.

Use Jack-0-lanterns as centerpieces, or Pumpkin themed candles like these Pumpkin Juice candles from My Weekend is Booked as decor. You could also give these as wedding favors if you are having an intimate wedding.

Carry a Gothic bouquet, like this purple clay rose bouquet by ClayBouquetShop.

Have a Halloween themed wedding cake or at least a spooky cake topper like this one from PrettyMyPartyDecor.

Use Halloween themed treat bags from PillowMakers filled with Halloween candy.

Colorado Forest Picnic Elopement Styled Shoot

Posted on October 22, 2018 by Christina

Does the idea of a stress-free elopement in a breathtaking forest setting pique your interest? If so, you are going to love today’s styled shoot photographed by the talented Polina LeRoy.

Here’s what Polina had to say about the shoot:

This shoot was inspired by the nature of Colorado, which I was lucky to enjoy in Evergreen. Endless forests and picturesque mountains – we are so blessed to live here and see the beauty of it every day.

I love the idea of an elopement in the wilderness, because nature helps to reconnect to your true selves and choose the true love.

We tried to convey the authentic beauty of the forest with our couple. The gentle ivory color of the dress and flowers are complemented by cool forest greens, and the golden rays of the sun streaming through the trees.

My husband (Dendrologic Designs) was so moved by my idea of a secluded picnic for two,  he made a table from the local pine for the shoot. He even left the bark untouched out of respect for the natural beauty of the tree.

The gorgeous florals, which were created by Nicole, floral designer at Something Styled, were inspired by the neutral tones of Autumn.
