Paola and Nestor’s Intimate Florida Wedding

Posted on April 7, 2017 by Christina

Paola and Nestor’s intimate wedding in Florida was a family affair, with  loved ones pitching in to make the couple’s wedding vision a reality.

“My aunt was my wedding supporter and designer. She helped me develop Nes and mine’s vision of what we wanted. She flew in from Puerto Rico three weeks before the wedding and started right away creating and designing the look of the wedding. We had a lot of helping hands and good times. The best part of all is having your family and everyone you love with you through the process,” explained Paola.

Reception decor details include clear glass bottles and milk glasses which were turned into vases for craspedia flowers surrounded by limes, tangerines and fresh magnolia leaves. Vintage pieces – including an old door from Paola and Nestor’s 1938’s home which served as a seating chart, as well as copper silverware, white milk glass vases and vintage-embellished plates added to the charming ambiance of the intimate wedding.

Thanks to Hundreds of Moments LLC for the beautiful photos!

    Paola, 31 & Nestor, 30

    Location: Gainesville, FL

    Wedding Date: June 25, 2016

    Number of Guests: 75

Wedding Ceremony Location: Baughman Center, Gainesville, FL

Wedding Reception Location: Plantation Hall, Gainesville, FL

Why did you have an intimate wedding?

We wanted to spend time with those that were there to celebrate our love. We felt having a lot of people will allow for missed opportunities to enjoy everyone that was there with us.

What are some the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?

Selecting our guests was the most challenging part since Nestor’s family is very large. Also, selecting the venue that would accommodate everyone comfortably.

Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?

It wasn’t so difficult since we have friends and family that work on the same business or have similar interests.

Did you have any ‘issues’ with the small guest list from friends and family? If so, how did you address them?

No issues that we know of. We have a very supportive and hands-on family, which helped alleviate most of the stress.

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

    • Seeing my future husband waiting for me at the altar
    • Nestor’s dad singing “Ave Maria” and his mom standing by his dad’s side
    • Having all my family and Nestor’s family there

What were the highlights of the reception?

    • When Nestor’s 11-year old brother caught the garter, he was so excited. Then, he had to dance with the girl that caught the bouquet and he was very shy! It made everyone cheer and laugh.
    • Dancing with my uncle, he walked me down the aisle.

What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?

The best thing is that you can see, talk, dance and celebrate with everyone.

What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?

Even though the wedding day comes and goes very fast after all the preparation you’ve worked on for months, those closest to your hearts, your husband and you are going to be able to enjoy every single moment. Don’t stress, everything works out, remember – it’s a party, it should be fun!

Greta and Caleb’s San Francisco City Hall Elopement

Posted on April 3, 2017 by Christina

Greta and Caleb go way back. In fact, Greta had a crush on Caleb since they worked together on a project when she was 11. After spending several years apart, the two reunited and Caleb finally kissed her. One year to that day, the couple eloped to City Hall in San Francisco.

“Marrying my best friend was a dream come true, and making it such an intimate ceremony for just the two of us was so special, it was the best decision we could have made,” said Greta.

They scheduled the earliest available time for their ceremony, and spend the rest of day exploring the city with their photographer, Kyle + Tori from  Kyle Loves Tori Photography.

Thanks to Kyle Loves Tori Photography for the breathtaking images!

    Greta, 26 & Caleb, 27

    Location: San Francisco, California

    Wedding Date: November 9, 2016

    Number of Guests: 2

    Wedding Cost: ~ $3,000-$4,000

Wedding Ceremony Location: San Francisco City Hall

Wedding Reception Location: We had two separate small parties for our families, it made it easier for them travel-wise. We had one in Utah, where my family lives, and the other in Colorado, where we’re from, and where his family lives.

Why did you have an intimate wedding?

The thought of having a big wedding wasn’t something that excited either of us, we just wanted to be married, but still wanted it to be special. So when I suggested eloping to San Francisco, Caleb was very much on board with the idea.

What are some the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?

To be honest, there weren’t many. I planned the entire wedding in the span of two months, so the time crunch was the most difficult. Getting everything together by a certain date, booking travel, and making ceremony/marriage license appointments at city hall. But even with that timeline, there wasn’t much stress.

Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?

No, I knew I wanted my best friend there to be my maid of honor, and Caleb had his younger brother be his best man. Other than that, we wanted it to be just us.

Did you have any ‘issues’ with the small guest list from friends and family? If so, how did you address them?

We really didn’t, we told both of our families we were eloping, and they were all very excited for us.

    san francisco city hall wedding

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

The entire day was simply exquisite. I wore a coat over my dress so Caleb wouldn’t see it until we got to city hall, and seeing his face light up when he finally did see me as a bride was something I’ll never forget. I used a piece of my mom’s wedding dress to make my small veil, and put a pin on my bouquet that I borrowed from my mother in law. There were a lot of meaningful little details like those that I love. The ceremony itself was beautiful, and a bit surreal to me. Caleb and I have known each other for nearly fifteen years, but didn’t start dating until exactly one year prior to our wedding day. Marrying my best friend was a dream come true, and making it such an intimate ceremony for just the two of us was so special, it was the best decision we could have made.

What were the highlights of the reception?

We didn’t have a reception the day of, but we went to a little cupcake shop after city hall, to get cupcakes in lieu of a wedding cake, which I loved. We spent the rest of the day exploring San Francisco, there wasn’t a whole lot of planning for that beforehand. Our photographers had researched a few places they wanted to take pictures, so we just went wherever they suggested, mostly. And every location we visited was completely gorgeous, even the weather was perfect. I can’t imagine our wedding day turning out any better.

What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?

It was such a low stress way to do it, and so much fun. There was no worrying about making anyone else happy. We were able to focus on our love for each other, instead of a party. We got to be spontaneous, and do exactly what we wanted. We didn’t have to worry about guests, or entertaining. Instead it was an entire day of adventuring, and it was entirely wonderful.

What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?

If it’s what you really want, then do it. It’s your day, and it is not about anyone else. Don’t invite people you would otherwise feel obligated to invite, have as many, or as few people there as you want. Do whatever will make you the happiest. Create something that represents both of you, incorporate things that you love, include meaningful details. Don’t feel like you have to limit yourself. Just because it’s small, doesn’t mean you can’t have your dream wedding.

Whitney and Patrick’s Paso Robles DIY Wedding

Posted on March 31, 2017 by Christina

Whitney, a Nebraska native who now works as a Los Angeles model, and her fiancé, Patrick, a Southern California guitarist best known for his work with Katy Perry, decided to tie the knot at a private cabin in the hills of Paso Robles, just out of reach from Lake Naciemento. Only their closest family and friends were in attendance. Whitney wore a Sarah Janks gown from The Dress Theory, with Kate Spade bridal Keds. Their ceremony included an exchanging of vows, and a sweet, surprise of Patrick performing ‘My Girl’ to his bride – including guests singing along!

Thanks so much to photographer Alexandra Wallace for submitting this sweet DIY wedding!

    Whitney & Patrick

    Location: Paso Robles

    Wedding Date: October 22, 2016

    Number of Guests: 16

    Wedding Cost: ~$7,000

    Wedding Ceremony Location: Paso Robles,

    Wedding Reception Location: Paso Robles

Why did you have an intimate wedding?

What we wanted most was to remember every single detail of our day and be present with each guest that came. Every person that was there was someone who meant a great deal to us. Each person that came put their personal touches on our day. Our friends made our cake, as well as the benches the guests sat on during the ceremony, and the flower crown that my maid of honor wore. They also helped me with the floral arrangement. Because it was so small, it was for the most part stress-free, not to mention that we saved a lot of money!

What are some the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?

We didn’t hire any help apart from the food and some of my flowers. This was challenging at times because we live in LA and Paso Robles is five hours from us. We did EVERYTHING ourselves.

Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?

Not so much. We put our list together early on and stuck to it.

Did you have any ‘issues’ with the small guest list from friends and family? If so, how did you address them?

From the beginning of our engagement we knew this was what we wanted and were vocal about it, so no one was surprised. We stuck to immediate family and a handful of friends who we consider family. We were so lucky that the people in our lives understood this. We didn’t feel like we had to explain this to anyone nor did anyone make us feel like we had to.

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

When Patrick sang and played “My Girl” for his vows. It was perfect!

What were the highlights of the reception?

Getting to have actual conversations with everyone there, and playing corn hole on our personalized corn hole boards (made by Patrick).

    Paso Robles california intimate wedding

What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?

To us it took some pressure off, which reduced stress and allowed us to just have FUN! That’s what it’s supposed to be about! You could feel the love at our wedding. It was really special!

What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding? Just go for it!

We had the most amazing time in a perfect setting. It was low stress, and the love was so present. Put your guest list together early on and stick to it!
