    10 Flower Box Centerpieces

Posted on July 9, 2015 by Giselle

Flower boxes are a lovely way to add rustic charm to your table settings. If you’re looking for alternatives to vases then flower boxes can give your floral arrangements a different look. The great thing about these centerpieces is that you can either buy them or have a go at making them yourself. Here are 10 flower box centerpieces to inspire you!

    1. A Twist on a Classic

The color palette of pink and white is a wedding classic, especially for floral arrangements.

    2. Going Contemporary

Flower boxes come in so many finishes, and can be easily transformed with just a few coats of paint. These boxes are edged in gold paint and work well with the contemporary stripes and metallic candle holders.

    3. Simple and Natural

Candles, eucalyptus and a few small blooms are all you need if you don’t want to go for a traditional floral centerpiece.

    4. A French Affair

To create a memorable centerpiece, the box itself can be just as decorative as the flowers. Go for a vintage box or crate that has writing on it.

    5. Lavender Scented

Boxes filled with jars of lavender have a pretty and laid-back look, as well as creating the most amazing scent for your tables. You can even give the jars to your guests as favors too.

    6. Me + You

Step back in time with a nostalgic box inscribed with a romantic high-school doodle.

    7. The Classic Box

Why limit yourself to only one size? If you have long tables you can alternate larger flower boxes with smaller ones.

    8. Soft Pastels

An abundant centerpiece of soft pastel blooms goes so well with this box.

    9. Dark Antiques

An antique style wedding complete with dark wood, apothecary bottles and lace needs a little color. Add some colorful blooms to the mix for a botanical flower box.

    10. Jars of Baby’s Breath

We love the simplicity of the distressed box with the jars of baby’s breath. This would work so well with casual table settings or for a reception outdoors.

    DIY Tears of Joy Tissues

Posted on July 8, 2015 by Christina

    happy tears wedding

Weddings are emotional. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding where at least a few happy tears weren’t shed. That’s why it’s a good idea to provide your guests with something to wipe away those tears of joy. Although a box of plain ol’ tissues might do the trick, we’ve created something that we think you and your guests will find a lot more inviting: DIY Tear of Joy Tissues.

We recently discovered an adorable line of scented tissues from Renova, a Portugese paper product company that just expanded their goods into Canada. Mango Milkshake, Spearmint Gum and Fresh Lavender are just a few of the fun scents offered. Since we are WAY obsessed with just about anything lavender, we used the purple and white Fresh Lavender tissues for our Happy Tears project.

    lavender wedding

Here’s what you will need for your DIY Tears of Joy Tissues:

    • one pack of Renova Fresh Lavender tissues for each guest
    • organza ribbon (21″ for each tissue bundle)
    • fresh cut lavender
    • scissors

    lavender wedding tissues

If you want to create the Happy Tears Bouquet, you will also need:

    • small chalkboard sign
    • chalkboard marker
    • small chalkboard pot
    • fresh lavender bouquet

    lavender wedding bouquet

Remove packaging from tissues. Cut lavender stems to 3.5″. We used 6-8 stems for each stack of tissues. Place lavender bundle beneath purple fold.

    lavender wedding tissues

    How cute is that?

    tears of joy

Now, simply tie your organza ribbon around the stack of tissues. Easy peasy!

Place your Tears of Joy tissues in front of your lavender bouquet and voila!

If the Fresh Lavender tissues don’t match your wedding colors, why not try pair the Mango Milkshake tissues with some Billy Buttons, or Spearmint Gum tissues with some fresh Rosemary?

While you are browsing Renova’s fabulous selection of scented tissues, don’t forget to check out some of their other unique products– including red toilet paper made famous by Beyoncé and considered “the Sexiest Paper on Earth!” Want to learn more? Like Renova on Facebook.

    10 Dreamy Blue Wedding Dresses

Posted on July 7, 2015 by Giselle

The trend for colored wedding dresses continues to be seen on the runway and also in real weddings. We’ve had metallic and blush dresses and now blue is becoming the sartorial choice for many brides. From the palest of hues to striking indigo, there’s so many ways to work this stunning trend. We’ve found 10 gorgeous blue wedding dresses to inspire you.

    1. Ballerina Style

Your guests will be in awe when they see you walking down the aisle in this show-stopper of a dress by Sareh Nouri.

    2. Vintage Blue

If you are a vintage bride, you will love this glamorous gown with cascading embellishments.

    3. In Lace

The blue tone paired with the lace and long sleeves has a delicate look. Finish it off with a slightly messy up-do and a simple bouquet.

    4. All Buttoned Up

Go for a classic style with traditional details, such as lace and a buttoned back. The color provides a nice twist to a popular style of dress.

    5. Bohemian Texture

For a bohemian style dress perfect for a whimsical affair, this blue beauty will fit in so well. With plenty of ruffles, this dress has a laid-back vibe that still has gorgeous textured details.

    6. Embellished in Light Blue

Embellishments are not only for metallic dresses. For an alternative take on this look, go for a blue option with heavy embellishments and sheer cap sleeves.

    7. White and Blue Print

White and blue are a classic color combination, ideal for those who want a white wedding dress but with a pop of color.

    8. Pale and Layered

This dress with its oceanic inspiration will look amazing for a destination wedding!

    9. Petal Details

The romantic petal appliqué on this dress enhances the pale blue color even more.

    10. Blue Tulle

A tulle dress, full of diaphanous layers and a form-fitting bustier is beautiful enough. When you add in this pretty color it gets even better.Save

Kerstyn and Michael’s Irish Manor Wedding

Posted on July 6, 2015 by Gaelan

Kerstyn fell in love with Ireland the first time she visited the Emerald Isle, and after much discussion about destination wedding venues, she and Michael quickly realized that there was no better location for their nuptials. A long engagement allowed the couple’s family and friends plenty of time to plan and save for the destination wedding.

Surrounded by their nearest and dearest, the couple exchanged their vows on the grounds of Adare Manor in the county Limerick. To make the day extra special for their guests, the newlyweds surprised everyone with a spectacular fireworks display at the end of the evening – making for a truly fitting conclusion to a magical day.

A huge thank you to Larry McMahon sharing the beautiful photos from this wedding with us!

Why did you have an intimate wedding?

We knew we wanted to have a fall destination wedding. I had been to Ireland before and absolutely loved it. As we were discussing locations, the more we talked about Ireland, the more we realized that it was our dream location; so we made it a reality! The intimacy of a small, destination wedding was what truly mattered to us. We wanted to highlight our relationship and our commitment to each other. The wedding weekend was all about our family and friends getting to know each other better and spend quality time with one another in a beautiful country. By the time the wedding day came, we didn’t feel like we had to be “hosts”; everyone was ready to enjoy the ceremony and party afterwords. Weddings definitely bring on stress no matter what, but when it came to our wedding day, we were able to truly be in the moment with everyone present and it felt so wonderful.

What are some of the challenges that you faced planning an intimate wedding?

We planned the majority of the wedding ourselves. The wedding coordinator at Adare Manor took care of all of the arrangements pertaining to the hotel, and my mom was a big help as well. Planning a wedding in Ireland while we were in California turned out to be less stress and even more enjoyable than we could have imagined! We went to Ireland the December before our wedding to meet with our vendors and apply to be legally married in Ireland since our wedding date is important to us. This helped us get everything sorted out early and made us so excited for the actual day.

Was it difficult to pare down the guest list?

We actually had a very long engagement and invited almost all of our family and friends to the wedding. This gave ample time for our guests to plan and save.

What were the highlights of the ceremony?

Michael and I wrote the ceremony together with the help of our solemniser. It was very personal to us and spoke to our relationship past, present, and future. We also wrote our own vows which was incredibly emotional and so, so special. The ceremony was very real to us, and full of laughter, tears, love, and support from our close network of family and friends. It was the most important part of our wedding day and we’ll cherish those memories forever.

What were the highlights of the reception?

We had one long table in the amazing Minstrel’s Gallery and as Michael and I were sitting down to dinner, we looked up and down the table and were overwhelmed with the love and support of our family and friends who were there with us. The hopes and intentions for our wedding day were realized so abundantly and we are eternally grateful for such a perfect day.

To surprise our guests, Michael and I had arranged for a fireworks show at the end of the night. The only other person who knew was our wedding coordinator at Adare Manor. It was so much fun to treat our family and friends to such a spectacular event. The day was already magical and this addition was the icing on the cake!

What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?

Having an intimate wedding allowed us to spend more time with our guests. We had the whole weekend to spend time with each other and we were able to give our attention fully to those who were there. On the wedding day, Michael and I were able to be by each other’s side the majority of the time, which was really important to us. It helped us enjoy special moments together and truly soak in the magnitude of the day and what the future will hold for us.

What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?

Have the wedding you dream of and that suits your personalities. It is such a special day and should be everything that you want! For us, it was an intimate destination wedding and it was truly all we could ask for and more.
